Remnants of Dynamite FactoryIn the 1930s and early 1940s, this area was a giant dynamite factory. The nearby community of Parchester housed workers, and a company-owned train ran down Giant Highway. After the company shutdown, the state of California purchased the land and transformed it into a state park. Today, remnants of the old factory lay everywhere. This beautiful park holds many secrets—including a beach that few people know about. It’s in plain sight, but the path isn’t very visible.
