Every single trail is a muddy sinkhole. When I plant my boot into the ground, it’s sinking fast into soft soil. The picture on the left exemplifies how every trail appears. My quick thinking avoidance skills turn on spontaneously–stomping through tall grass hopping anywhere to avoid a muddy mess. Very difficult, but the reward is amazing.

Rain, cold weather, and overcast skies ruled this area for the past two weeks. Hiking and photography was an impossibility. However, this Saturday I enjoyed the weather by venturing onto Tilden’s Pine Trail. I was worried that the winter, even though there was gargantuan amounts of sunshine, wouldn’t present pleasant photographic scenery but I was wrong. I think I snapped my best landscape picture yet (coming soon).

My friend joined this hike, and at one point my legs were burning and he was kind enough to snap a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge far in the distance. He was amazed at the sight of colorful sails dotting the deep-blue seascape, and the camera lens’ ability to view traffic on the bridge.

Another sight that surprised both of us was the appearance of a group of stairs. The area was very shaded and chilly. Frost grew on the plants and the steps–that was how low the temperature reached. I created great photographs, but I only chose to feature one on my main site.
